Nomads in Nature
Our Story
We were on track to living the American dream –
Climbing the corporate ladder, home-owners, and checking all the “traditional steps” right off the list. That is, until, right in the peak of our comfortable life we realized we weren’t happy with our path and all these things we had didn’t really matter.
We loved watching shows on tiny homes and tried to be more eco-friendly and sustainable, but we weren’t always practicing our passion.
It wasn’t until I left one weekend for my bachelorette party and then came home to my CPA, spreadsheet-loving husband that said he had a plan….
He budgeted how we could save for the next year, sell our home, and most of our belongings to travel full-time.
I’m usually the spontaneous one and he’s the planner, so it didn’t take long for me to say “hell yes!”
Obviously, our parents & friends thought we were crazy, but we both had left the Midwest to move to San Diego right after college with no money or job (separately, we didn’t know each other then) and not only made it work, but it was the best decision!
Needless to say, we aren’t scared of adversity or the what-ifs, we’re more scared of letting a dream die and living unhappily.
2020 to 2022 we traveled full-time in our RV-
Our only goals were to hike one mountain at a time and enjoy being in the present!
It was a roller coaster ride of a lifetime to be honest. Living on the road isn’t for everyone as you will feel alone a lot of times and miss having a solid routine.
At the same time, we experienced living in some of the most beautiful places in the world and befriended the most incredible people from across the country. People that we instantly felt connected with and aspired for the same dreams.
Hands down, I’d choose that journey every time given the choice.
Our travels continue part-time in a our van
As we traveled to all those quaint towns, our goal was to decide on a place to put roots and build a more permanent community (while still traveling half the year).
Two years to the day, we decided on NW Arkansas (at least for now).
We found this blog to encourage others that filling their life with experiences over things will make them happier.
